If the thumbscrews, the ones that get turned to adjust tension, were longer like 5/8", and perhaps a little wider in diameter.
While not extended, they are difficult to grab & turn without finger tips sometime turning the graduated spring chamber at the same time. I don't have tiny fingers either.

I here what you are saying dangler but if the clearance between your shaft and the adjusters had more clearance, then you would have another problem of overwidth (ie) to increase the width of the unit to acommodate extra bulk means a compromise between what is acceptable and what is practicable, given that some guy's want to wear this thing in public without being obvious about it.
So -- how big is two big and how big is not big enough.
The guy's who designed this thing --i think found a good compromise, and i have no problems using it the way it is although i can understand that as the shaft grows, you would have some difficulty with the adjusters, but this is to be expected.
