There a variety of penile disorders which afflict males ranging from Peyronie’s disease to priapism. The following article gives a brief summary of a variety of disorders and the causes leading to them.
Peyronie’s Disease: is the growth of scar tissue particularly in the softer skin tissues of the penis. This growth or plaque results in penile curvature.
Paraphimosis: This disorder prevents a male from moving forward the foreskin of the penis. This can result in the constriction of fluids underneath the foreskin. This usually is a result of excessive friction during sexual intercourse.
Pudendal Nerve Entrapment: A condition which results in pain while sitting and a loss of sensation in the penile shaft.
Penis Fracture: This is a result of penile curvature; this can occur if the penis s bent excessively.
Erectile Dysfunction: Commonly referred to as impotence, E.D is the inability to maintain or achieve an erection as a result of a constriction of blood flow.
Priapism: This is a condition in which the penis does not return to its flaccid form for more than 4 hours. It has been noted as a side effect of drugs such as sildenafil.
Oedema: A condition in which swelling of the foreskin occurs as a result of sexual activity and/or masturbation.
Peripheral Neuropathy: It may cause a tingling sensation in the penile tissue and reduce sexual sensation.
