This surgery is commonly referred to as penis enlargement surgery and has emerged as a popular cosmetic enhancement over the past several years. With advancements in medical technology the effectiveness of these surgeries has increased, however; many argue that the results of this pervasive surgery are not worth the risks.

A Brief History of Penis Enlargement Surgery

Originally developed by a Chinese surgeon during the 1980’s, the techniques used were in their primary stages however they have advanced tremendously over the past decade. During the early 90’s the field of cosmetic surgery gained tremendous momentum, and penis enlargement surgery quickly followed suit. Although penile surgery is amongst the riskier of cosmetic surgeries it remains very popular.

One of the most common techniques used for enlargement surgery involves the cutting of the suspensory ligament. This muscle like tissue, located at the base of the penis it is responsible for connecting the penis to the body. By cutting this ligament the penis body is forced to hang and stretch. The penis is not necessarily enlarged using this surgery but rather it gives off the appearance that it is larger.
